A woman has been arrested for the murder of a man found dead earlier this week. 39-year-old Lori Hummel of the 400 block of Ridgway Avenue in Gloucester City was arrested on Friday and charged in the death 0f 54-year-old Thomas Carbin. Carbin’s body was found by his teenage daughter on Monday in his Westville, N.J. apartment. Police say Hummel was an acquaintance of Carbin who visited on Sunday night and was there until the early morning hours of Monday.
At some point Monday morning, police say Hummel slashed Carbin’s neck, killing him. She then allegedly stolen cash and gift cards and went shopping.
Hummel is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Police have arrested two men from Philadelphia and have charged them with robbing a man as he returned home to Cinnaminson from Atlantic City. 22 year old Christopher Featherstone and David Riley, age 20, are behind bars in Philadelphia, but will be extradited to New Jersey to face charges of robbery, aggravated assault and a number of gun charges. Both allegedly beat and robbed a man who hit it big at the Sugarhouse Casino in Philadelphia and took a cab back to Cinnaminson.
Mercer County authorities are searching for three suspects in the shooting of an attendant at a Hamilton Township gas station. The shooting occurred just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Runway Gas Station located in the 1700 block of Greenwood Avenue. Hamilton Township Police say the 45-year-old male attendant was in a booth when he was approached by three men wearing masks and hoodies. One of the men fired into the booth, striking the attendant in the abdomen. The victim was reported conscious and alert when police arrived. The man was taken to Capital Health System Fuld Campus in Trenton. The suspects were last seen fleeing on foot towards Walnut Street.
