Philadelphia police are investigating three deaths in Brewerytown including what appears to be a double murder. The bodies of a man and a woman, both 20-years-old, were found Wednesday afternoon inside an apartment along the 3000 block of Redner Street. The two victims were found in the upstairs front apartment and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe this was a drug-related robbery. Sources say each victim was shot nine or ten times. As Action News was on the scene covering the double homicide, shots could be heard a block away at around 7:15 p.m. Officers then rushed towards the sounds at North 30th and West Jefferson streets. Police say a teenage girl was shot in the stomach and chest. She was taken to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A man was immediately taken in for questioning, but he is said not be a person of interest.
A double shooting in Wilmington has left a woman dead and her teenage son wounded. It happened around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Davis Street. The woman killed has been identified as 42-year-old Dawn Dollard. It all began, police say, when Dollard’s 22-year-old son was coming home from the store. As he was entering the home, police say two masked men forced their way inside and announced a robbery.
Police say Dollard and another son, a 17-year-old, tried to run out the back door when one of the suspects opened fire. Dollard was struck in the back and killed. The 17-year-old was wounded in the shoulder. The 22-year-old was not hurt. There are no suspect descriptions at this time.
